A Return to Printmaking

After several years of not blogging, I am picking it up again in retirement! I am hoping to be much more active as an artist now that I have more time on my hands.

In the 1980’s, I was an avid lithographer, turning out very large editions of very large hand-made prints. I gave it up after a tiring decade, but I have recently returned to printmaking by taking classes at the Community College. My approach is more playful than before, making smaller pieces and smaller, sometimes variable, editions. I’m excited to be making original prints again, and sharing them here.

This is a silkscreen triptych that I completed in 2019. It is continuation of my LA River series of paintings. I printed each piece by hand in five layers. I could say the uneven, painterly quality of the blended background was intentional, but I’ll just say I’m glad it kind of works.

LA River, Dusk. 2019. Silkscreen triptych, each panel 19.5 x 11, (image size 18” x 10”), edition of 5, printed in 5 layers, on Stonehenge paper. $800. Contact me for more information.
